Where do you go to be refreshed? Join us for a day away as a nursing student community (faculty, volunteers, and professionals are welcome as well). We know it's really hard to take a day off from work and studying when you're in nursing school. But Jesus invites us to be renewed and refreshed as we spend time on what matters most - loving God and loving one another. No matter what your spiritual/religious background is, you are welcome here and this space is for you.

Owen Smith is a husband, father, and PhD in Nursing candidate at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Prior to becoming a nurse, Owen volunteered on medical missions trips in Ecuador, travelled extensively across Latin America, and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer (PCV) in Central America. A traumatic experience while serving as a PCV led him to become a nurse, where he worked in HIV care among Spanish-speaking immigrants in Baltimore City for 6 years. In 2020, Owen decided to pursue his PhD focused on interpersonal trauma among Spanish-speaking immigrant men living with HIV. He is currently a teaching fellow at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, works as a mental health RN at the VA, is a Mental Health First Aid instructor, and is collecting data for his dissertation study. Owen's life experiences, work as a nurse, and faith in Christ have given him a passion for trauma care and the concepts of vulnerability, emotional support, and posttraumatic growth. Owen and his wife Maritza live in Chester County, PA with their three children and are active as worship leaders in the Willowdale en Español congregation in Kennett Square, PA.
